Alternative Dosage Forms

The form a medicine takes decides whether it gets taken at all. If swallowing a tablet is the problem, the answer is usually a different form rather than a different drug.

Manufacturers pick one or two dosage forms because that is what scales. For patients who cannot swallow, who react to something in the coating, or who need the medicine to act in one place rather than everywhere, that choice is the whole problem.

How to Get One Prepared

1. Talk to your prescriber

Compounded medicines cannot be supplied without a prescription. Tell your doctor, specialist, dentist or vet what is not working and ask whether it can be compounded.

2. Send us the prescription

Bring it in, post it, or send it through online. Call us first if you would like a price and a timeframe before you commit.

3. Collect or have it delivered

Pick it up at Piazza 16, 3221 Surfers Paradise Boulevarde, or we courier it Australia wide through Aramex.

Dosage Form Questions

Can any tablet be turned into a liquid?

No. It depends on whether the active is stable in that form. Call us with the medicine name and we will tell you what is realistic before you go back to your prescriber.

Does changing the form change the dose?

It can, and that is a decision for your prescriber, not for us. We prepare what is written on the prescription.

Is a liquid less accurate than a tablet?

Not when measured with an oral syringe, which is what we supply. It is generally more accurate than splitting a tablet at home.
